Mikan doesn't know that Natsume and Ruka love her, but what is clear is that she is in love with Natsume, not Ruka. In chapter 98, it is made obvious to her that Natsume loves her when he says that he wants to become an adult and run away with her right now to which she replies "Me, too."

The Mask Part: Natsume wore a mask to hide his face from Mikan (although I've forgotten why, hehe, sorry!), but that is the mask of a competitor in the race, so he had to go join the race. The rules of the race is to 'borrow' a person that best describes what is written on the paper you get, so Natsume got a "The person you loved" . He 'borrowed' Mikan and finished the race. The Hugging Part: Luna wants Natsume to say nasty things about Mikan, so Mikan would hate Natsume(he did that cus Luna threatened him). So Natsume said that Mikan was an 'eye sore' in front of many people and Mikan accidentally heard it. Mikan starts to run away, sad, and Natsume realised that Mikan heard him, so he chased after her. Oh yes. She kissed with Natsume twice, both in volume 9. In Christmas party, Mikan danced with Natsume. But a couple hit Mikan by accident and Mikan fell over to the floor, upon Natsume. When Mikan opened her eyes, she was 'tooth kissing'with Natsume. And, after some time, Mikan and Natsume were sitting on the tree. They were talking about kissing and Mikan said that she can't understand the girl who kiss with Natsume. Natsume said it is you, and Mikan said it is not a kiss. Then Natsume kissed to Mikan, angry about what she had said.

Mikan also finds out about her father and mother, and it turns out that Mikan's dad was killed by Persona, and Natsume and Mikan's mother knew each other... Volume Twelve starts with Chapter 65 and ends with Chapter 70.65. This chapter starts with Ruka continuing and finishing off the story of how him and Natsume met. The last chapter, Natsume's town caught on fire because of his sister Aoi's Alice. Natsume doesn't want Aoi to get blamed and cruelly punished, so Natsume takes the blame. Natsume also sees his father for the last time in a very long time. Persona is seen talking to Aoi, and it seems she has lost her memories. In the meantime, Ruka's mother shows up to the Hospital and this is when people start snapping at Natsume for the town burning down. Ruka tries to defend him, but Natsume pushes him away in an effort to make it look like Ruka wasn't involved in the mass fire. Academy officials take Natsume away, and Ruka decides that his place is with Natsume. When Natsume gets in the car the next morning to go the academy, Ruka is already there waiting for him. The two of them mutually agree to go to the academy together, but then suddenly, Natsume's father bursts out of the hospital. He calls out Natsume's name and falls over. It's really then that Natsume finally breaks down and cries silently. Ruka is shocked to see this and promises Natsume that he will become strong so they can leave the academy together. As Ruka finishes up the story, he explains Aoi's placement and how his and Natsume's star ranking keep going up as Natsume does missions. Mikan then becomes extremely frustrated at the school for treating the Hyuugas like that. So then Ruka, Mikan, and Hotaru decide to find Natsume in the Labyrinth beneath the Hana-Hime Den.66.Mikan and her friends, Hotaru and Ruka have stopped. The hall splits into three hallways. They finally decide to each take a path but Ruka is worried about this. Mikan and Hotaru then ask if Ruka was scared but he replied, "I...I am NOT scared!". Mikan and Hotaru said, "Really, Ru-chan?" It seems that Hotaru's brother was harmed by a monster in the "Junior High Underground Basement". The Monster is Persona.So they went to find Hotaru's brother. Sakurano was there with Hotaru's brother. Hotaru's brother was disgusted when he saw them. (They were all dirty) Anyway, Imai-san (Hotaru's Brother) just quickly asked Tono to help and start exam Mikan.Imai-san said that it might not work. While they are doing that, everyone started to tell the whole story. How they entered the forbidden place and started fighting Rui and Hayate then fight Persona and saved Aoi.Tono is seriously mad. Sakurano isn't really happy about this and wants them to get out70. Mikan is badly injured from Persona's Alice and must be taken to the hospital. However, Subaru notices that the black marks on Mikan are fading and that Mikan is making a large alice stone. This ability to "steal" away is a rare Aice; the Steal Alice and the only other to have this Alice is Yuka. Subaru and Sakurano conclude that it could inherited as they think of fond memories of Yuka. Haymai, of the news department spreads the news about the Hyuuga siblings with no Alice, staying at the school secretly. Going forward a week later Mikan is healthy again and back in class. Elsewhere Narumi is reading later that is to the middle school principal. The letter states that no action or punishment will be taken, possibly because students will become curious and investigate. Also, doctors were unable to remove Yo-chan's Gulliver's Candy, so he is now capable of switching back and froth between a 13 year old and 3 year old. To fix her eyesight Aoi has been staying in the hospital and is leaving Gakuen Alice today. To not cause a crowd Mikan and friends send Aoi off secretly. Mikan and Aoi are happy to see each other, especially since Aoi is now able to see. Mikan tells Aoi that she doesn't know how she got better, since Subaru and Tono won't tell her. Although, Tono does ask her if she can steal his Alice or create an Alice stone. Back when Aoi was in the hospital she asked Natsume to go back with her, but he told her that he can't leave now, because his friends need him. Aoi understands,saying she will wait for him and asks everyone to take care of her brother for her. Natsume and Aoi's father then arrive at the gate, so does Ruka's Mother. Natsume hugs his father thorough the bars of the gate and Ruka does the same, until security removes them. Mikan remembers that she will one day meet her grandfather again too, but it will be harder now, because of her troublemaking. After seeing Mikan upset over her no star status Ruka throws away his stars and announces that he is the same as Sakura.
