Another name for the Earth's atmosphere is "air." It is the layer of gases surrounding the planet that supports life and protects it from the harsh conditions of space.
Venus is the planet surrounded by a thick atmosphere of deadly gases. Its atmosphere is composed mainly of carbon dioxide and sulfuric acid clouds, creating a harsh environment with extreme temperatures and pressure on the surface.

the temperature and heat
Venus has a very hot, very thick atmosphere of sulfuric acid. The pressure is about 80 times that of the Earth's atmosphere, and the temperature is over 800 degrees. NOT a nice place. There are some speculations about trying to "explore" the atmosphere of Venus using balloons. But that's a long way off.
well for one Mercury doesn't have an oxygen rich atmosphere. it also has sulfur clouds and harsh weather conditions. its days are slightly shorter then ours and there is no life forms that we know of on the planet where earth is teaming with life.
protect the world from the harsh gases in space
All planets except Earth have conditions extremely unsuitable for life. Venus is over 800 degrees Fahrenheit because it has an extreme greenhouse effect. Mercury and Pluto have no atmosphere. Mars has a thin atmosphere and is too cold (although it could possibly be terraformed).
Early Earth had a harsh environment characterized by high temperatures, frequent volcanic activity, and little to no oxygen in the atmosphere. The planet was bombarded by meteorites and experienced intense UV radiation from the Sun.
No animals currently exist on planet Mars as we know of considering how the conditions there are to harsh to live.
It would be extremely challenging to turn Mars into a green planet due to its harsh environment lacking in atmosphere, water, and suitable temperatures. It would require significant technological advancements and resources to transform Mars into a habitable environment for plant life.
The second planet from the Sun is Venus. Known for its thick, toxic atmosphere and extreme temperatures, it is often referred to as Earth's "sister planet" due to its similar size and composition. However, its harsh conditions make it very different from Earth. Venus is also famous for its bright appearance in the sky, often called the "Evening Star" or "Morning Star."
