Mount Rainier was not named after a physical feature, but named after a British Admiral by the name of Peter Rainier by a friend of his, Captain George Vancouver whom is believed to have been the first European to see the mountain in 1792.

We saw a "flock" of eagles circling over a nest area in Fort Worden State Park. There were 14. Normally we see only two pairs nesting in the area. Has anyone else seen anything like this?
