Well not many places are hit with earthquakes continuously. But California is one of them. Well do you think it could be because of the tectonic plates. An earthquake happens when tectonic plates move or overlap each other. This causes the ground to shake. This because a deep part of the earth called "the mantle" shakes causing the plates to shake. They all occur mostly in places with oceanic plates and continental plates. Since California is a place that is close to the ocean it has a Oceanic Plate. And GUESS WHAT HAPPENS MOST? EARTHQUAKES! I'm just 12 years old and I know some of this stuff!! :):):):)
The US state that experiences the most earthquakes is Alaska. California is ranked second, however California tends to experience more damaging earthquakes than Alaska due to it's higher population density.
Most of the earthquakes in the US occur in California. California is located on the Pacific plate, which is rubbing against the Juan de Fuca plate.
IDK but there is a major earthquake every 100 years in San Andreas
The most earthquakes in California is San Francisco. Second place is Los Angeles.
California is on the North American plate which converges with the Juan De Fuca plate.
Coalinga
Earthquakes commonly occur near tectonic plates when they rub together. A common place for earthquakes in the Unites States is California.
In California, there are frequent earthquakes
Usually in the United States have the most earthquakes but, if you live there, don't worry 'cause they're usually harmless.
The Eastern and Midwestern United States are not geologically active, however, there are still faults and some tension left over from ancient periods of geologic activity. Additionally, portions of the northern United States experience earthquakes as the crust rebounds following the retreate of the glaciers.
the Pacific Ocean
Earthquakes occur on the west side of the United states of America. The state of California is often hit by earthquakes. This is because there is a fault line cause by the tectonic plates on the western coast of America.
All of the states have experienced earthquakes in the past. However Alaska, Hawaii, Nevada, Washington and Idaho are the most active states besides California.

The most frequent number of earthquakes in U.S. are in Alaska followed by California.

Actually they occur in california like 3 times a month but hardly
34-100
Earthquakes and volcanoes, although sometimes related are not always found in the same place. Although you will always see earthquakes associated with volcanoes, an earthquake can occur without any volcanic implications. Earthquakes are most commonly experienced along the west coast of the United States as well as along the southern part of the state of Alaska. Although this is the most common place to experience earthquakes, they can happen anywhere throughout the United States. Volcanoes are also most common along the west coast of the United States (with the exception of southern and central California) as well as the southern part of Alaska. The central and southern parts of California although the most prone to earthquakes do not at this time have a heavy concentration of active volcanoes. The earthquakes in this area are driven primarily by the San Andres and sister fault lines.
Southern California did not have any significant earthquakes in 1967. There was an earthquake in 1968 and 3 earthquakes in 1969 that did significant damage to southern California.
the majority of earth quakes in the USA occur in California and in Alaska
