A RADIO CITY ROCKETTE earns approx. $135.00 per show. Considering they do on average 5 shows daily and 6 days a week during the high season, that income is about four thousand a week. Rockettes do not work at Radio City 52 weeks a year, so their salary is not annual but based on seasonal and the amount of performances they do. On their "off season", many Rockettes have second jobs as Dance Instructors, Fitness Instructors, Models etc. Rockettes must meet weight criteria and also height. In addition, they are required to audition for each season. When one does become a Rockette, their schedule is all consuming with long work days that start about 10am and end about 10-11pm. In between shows, many of the Ladies catch cat naps or study in-between as many are pursuing degrees of higher education. The life of a Rockette is very demanding, but I have never met a Rockette who said they are sorry they did it. They stated every moment as being a Rockette was the most memorable ones they had. The camaraderie amongst the Ladies is very strong and has produced lifelong friendships amongst them.
