What serial killer orchestrated a murder while in jail to prove his innocence?
Kenneth Bianci, 1/2 of the Hillside Stranglers, met a woman while in a Los Angeles jail by the name of Veronica Compton, age 24. Compton must have thought well of Bianci, because after her release from jail in L.A. she travelled to Washington state (where Bianci had killed two young women), kidnapped a stranger and tried to strangle her. Thank goodness the victim got away from her and of course alerted the police. The story was Compton was to strangle a woman to prove that the killer was still on the loose. Bianci was safe in prison in California so he had the perfect alibi. But the murder attempt went south, Bianci is still in prison, and Compton was found guilty of attempted murder.
