The Indus Vally was a very early civilization but it was not the 1st, there were civilizations during pre-history many many thousands of years ago. The first civilizations that we have proof of are the ones who settled between the Tigris and Euphrates river; Mesopotamia (in modern day Iraq). The 1st civilization in the Indus Valley in the Harrapan society but not much is known because all there records are under the water table so we know little about them. :)Hope i helped!
Please name just one ancient civilization of the Mesopotamian region. If you are seen eating with only your hands, you may be perceived a having little or no civilization.
No, on a local level Incas traded handcrafted goods among themselves. Their empire was secluded in the mountains causing them to have little or no interaction with nearby societies. Wrong. It is well established that Andean civilization traded with Mexican civilizations. Very large Incan rafts were seen traveling along the coasts on S. America carrying goods and this is a well attested fact. We seem to have a problem with underestimating Indigenous peoples' knowledge of the land they lived on and interaction with other groups. This is a typical sheltered Euro-centric point of view.
Actually, Ancient Egypt had considerable contact with surrounding civilizations. They traded with the Mycenae, Greek, Hittite, Syrian, Babylonian, Sumerian, and Thor Heyerdahl discovered they took reed boats to the civilizations of India. He also showed they had the ability to visit The Americas in their reed boats.
There seems to be little agreement on the domestication of the horse. The best guess is about 8000 to 10,000 years. The most ancient of civilizations used horses. The Greeks, Roman, Egyptians all made use of horses.
The last answer is true, but incomplete. Geographic barriers such as mountains or seas separated china from other land. As a result, the Chinese had little knowledge of civilizations of Egypt, India, Greece, and Rome. Hope that helps!
