The poor Tudor man was only allowed to wear certain materials and colours to show that he was poor or low class.

The poor Tudor would wear clothes made from fabrics like wool, skin and linen. The poor Tudor was only allowed to wear the following colurs: brown, beige, yellow orange, russet, green, grey and blue.

A sign of your wealth was measured by the clothes you were wearing what they were made of and the colours.

I belive the law that made the poor only able to wear certain clothes was the Sumptuary law
