Lewis and Clark wore field dress uniforms, which were deep blue with red woolen collars, cuffs, and lapels and coattails lined in white. They also wore swords and round, felt hats bearing leather ornaments. The enlisted men wore basic army uniforms. While hunting, Lewis and Clark would wear caped hunting frocks made of linen with leather waist belts with hatchets and knives along with fringeless buckskin pants, frocks and moccasins. They DID NOT wear raccoon skin caps.
