Norwegian Elkhounds typically have a lifespan of around 12 to 15 years. With proper care, including a balanced diet, regular exercise, and routine veterinary check-ups, some may live even longer. Like all breeds, individual health and genetics can also influence their longevity.
Answerthey can have 7 - 14 puppysactually it depends on the dog and the lines.I have had females that only produced 3 pups and others that produced 6 and up.
The average weight for a male Norwegian Elkhound is 55lbs, the average weight for a female Norwegian elkhound is about 48lbs. The combined average weight for both male and female Norwegian Elkhounds is 51.5lbs.

No, it is it's own special breed. It's smaller than the husky, and certainly...doesn't look like one. It is however a spitz type of dog and therefore does share charcteristics and looks (curly tail etc). These are the closest to a wolf and include Samoyeds Huskies Chows Malamutes Akitas Elkhounds Keeshond Shiba Inu etc.
