Well, I believe it would be purple, because I have the exact same question on one of my science assignments, and I had a map to look at, and the colors included: blue, green, and purple. Some people say the green indicates warm weather, but the map showed snow all around the blue and purple, so I assume it would represent cold weather- haha!:) But anyway, I think it's purple, because purple was the farthest color north all around snow, so yea. Black represents man-made or cultural features like roads, bridges, borders, etc.
The hotter things get the more blue or ultraviolet the light they emit. However, on a weather map hot areas are usually indicated by read (the colour of fire) and the colder areas by blue (the colour of ice).
