If we are talking about just blue with no design, then a gray shirt would go really well with the suit!
I would wear a yellow or pink tie
Blue! A dark purple shirt should have a dark blue tie, and a light purple shirt should have a light blue tie. Silvery white would look nice too. Blue! A dark purple shirt should have a dark blue tie, and a light purple shirt should have a light blue tie. Silvery white would look nice too. Depends on what you are wearing with the Purple Shirt. It could be a darker Purple, or lighter purple, it could be black or it could be white. What ever suit you wear or sports coat, can help decide the tie color.
Just about any color would work. You would probably want some kind of contrast such as red, blue yellow or some other color that would stand out against the black background.

From what I read in William Manchesters, "Death of a President" he was buried in a blue pinstripe suit, white shirt and blue tie. Blue was the presidents favorite color of suit, along with dark brown shoes.
cream is neutral so any color tie can be matched with it, but certain colors work better depending on the color pants/suit you have.
Why wouldn't it suit you? Obviously a light coloured shirt is a must. You could try a white shirt with perhaps a pink tie or maybe even a navy tie that matches the suit. If you get the three together and look at them, you will know if they go or not. Of course, if you are flamboyant you can go crazy. I was thinking about a light blue shirt? Yes, a light blue shirt would go well, as long as it is a very light blue, almost like a pastel blue.
umm let me think dockers and a nice belt

Yes, for years a gray suit with a blue shirt have been the standard in business attire. This has evolved to any combination of gray pants and blue shirt, blue pants and gray shirt, etc. This is one of the most popular color combinations in the American society.
Depends on what you are matching it with. What color is your suit/pants? Get that color on your tie and you should be OK. Medium grey (in a glen plaid) or tan could work.
