For the most part, we don't know as very few fossils are preserved well enough to deduce the color. With a few dinosaurs, chemical traces have been found of color. Most colors found on dinosaurs are the colors of their feathers. Sinosaurpoteryx had an orange-and-white striped tail. Anchiornis was mostly black with white bands and a red crest, making it look somewhat like a woodpecker. Confuciusornis is believed to have been gray, black, and brown.
