Palomino is a coat color and not a breed, if you are unsure of this than please look at palomino horse association online and see for yourself.

I think it started off and is classified as a breed but becasue of genetics it can now be a clour but im not positive

Bay, chestnut, buckskin or palomino. A palomino horse has a chestnut base gene with a single dilution gene that changes the coat colour to palomino. This is a single dilute. A double dilute has two dilution genes (cremello). The single dilute of bay is buckskin and the double is perlino. There is only one dilution gene available in this cross so the horse cannot be a double dilute. The foal has a 25% chance of being bay, 25% of chestnut, 25% of palomino and 25% of buckskin. If any of the foal's grandparents are spotted, patched or roan, the foal may also have a chance of inheriting these traits (throwback).
