Claude Monet is a he, and yes. In very many of his painting did he use color. He often painted a Japanese bridge he had in his garden and many of the plants there and the paintings of them are often bright and colorful. He painted them during different times of the day to show how it affected the colors of objects.
The purpose of Matisse's paintings were that he wanted to show something different, instead of imitating the world, he wanted to change it to show meaning and feeling by using unrealistic colours and patterns.
The link between the two is that in some paintings for example Composition VII the lines are going in and moving in ways that could be to do with the tempo and volume of the music and that he listened to the music when he painted
