Melasma (also known as "Chloasma faciei" or the mask of pregnancy) when or the mask of pregnancy when present in pregnant women) is a tan or dark skin discoloration. Although it can affect anyone, melasma is particularly common in women, especially pregnant women and those who are taking oral or patch contraceptives or hormone replacement therapy (HRT) medications.

The "mask of pregnancy" should disappear after you have the baby. It is not relate to the vomiting of pregnancy, the theory behind why women vomit during pregnancy, especially early in pregnancy is that it is the bodies way of keeping bad things that might be harmful to the fetus out of the woman's body.

Low blood sugar is not a routine symptom of pregnancy. If you suspect you have low blood sugar, see your doctor immediately, because this could be a complication of pregnancy known as gestational diabetes.
