If all Viking raids into territories outside of Scandinavia are taken into account, completeley exluding the the Swedish Viking's ventures to the east, the Vikings raided current day France three times for every time they raided the British isles. The consequences were dire, because no-one could stand up to them. They took what they wanted, being neither good nor bad, and as a consequence we had our first European Union 1000 years ago. Not ruled by Vikings, but ensured by Vikings.
