The constellations that follow the path of the sun in the sky are known as the zodiac constellations. There are 12 zodiac constellations that the sun passes through during the year as seen from Earth. These constellations form the basis of the zodiac signs used in astrology.
Pegasus is NOT a zodiacal constellation. Only the constellations along the ecliptic are the constellations of the zodiac.
Indian astrology does not revise constellations.
There is no such thing as a "main" constellation in terms of ASTRONOMY, the IAU recognises 88 constellations. However in terms of ASTROLOGY = there are 12 signs of the Zodiac. The signes of the Zodiac are incorporated into (are a subset) of the 88 IAU recognised constellations
There is an imaginary band in the sky called the Plane of the Ecliptic. The planets we can see from earth, never wander above or below that band of sky - so the planets are always in one of the other of the constellations that lie in that band. We call those particular 12 (or 13) constellations the "constellations of the Zodiac".

There are 12 constellations in the tropical zodiac that is used by astrologers. They are the same as the names of the zodiac signs.
The belt of constellations through which all the planets move is called zodiac. The true shape of the planetary orbits was discovered by Kepler.
The ecliptic passes through 13 constellations, known as the zodiac constellations. These constellations include Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces. Additionally, the ecliptic also passes through a 13th constellation known as Ophiuchus.
In astronomy Ophiuchus is one of 13 constellations that cross the ecliptic. Ophiuchus has sometimes been considered the 13th sign of the zodiac because the Sun can be seen to pass through the boundary of the constellation November 30 to December 18, according to the International Astronomical Union. The constellations and the astrological zodiac have only a loose association with each other and reality. The zodiac signs in astrology are a means of dividing the ecliptic into 12 equal parts of 30° each, a quadrant encompassing about the distance the Sun travels in a month. Due to the procession of the equinoxes, the tropical zodiac is less accurate astronomically than the sidereal zodiac, which uses the exact placements of the planets in constellations. But neither really encompasses Ophiuchus as a zodiac sign.
