Russia is typically considered part of both Europe and Asia. There's some dispute over where the border between the continents actually is (in Russia and beyond), but most people say the part of Russia west of the Ural Mountains is European and the eastern part is Asian. That means more of Russia's landmass is in Asia, but more of the population lives in Europe, as the biggest cities, Moscow and St. Petersburg, are both on the European side.
If this frustrates you—"Why can't everything fit cleanly into our categories!"—I have bad news. Russia isn't the only country that spans multiple continents; Egypt, Greece, and Turkey do it, too.

Russia is based on the Eurasian peninsula (both Europe and Asia), there has been dispute over if Russians are Asian or European due to that issue. Technically, they should be considered Asian as they are based mostly in Asia.

Or to clarify (slightly) the above: Russia is in Europe while Siberia and many other states in the Russian Federation are in Asia. Basically, west of the Urals is in Europe.
Most of Russia is in Asia. Russia extends to the west of the Ural Mountains for many hundreds of miles and this part of Russia is in Europe. With regard to continental boundaries, both Moscow and St. Petersburg are European cities.
