The solid land mass of EURASIA is divided by a man-made imaginary line called Europe and Asia. There is no sea, ocean, or other water obstacle separating Europe from Asia. You can ride a bicycle from China to Germany, if there's no sign or fence stopping you. Battles were fought on the Continent of EURASIA, specifically in Europe and Asia. The Aleution Islands, part of the current state of Alaska had battles fought on it. But most historians do NOT consider those islands as part of the North American Continent, even though Alaska is part of the North American Continent. Battles were fought on the Continent of Africa, specifically in North Africa. Japan did physically shell & bomb the continents of North America and the Continent of Australia during WWII.

WWII was actually fought on four continents, not three. They were Europe, Asia, Africa and North America. Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, Hawaii on December 7, 1941. They also occupied two islands in the Aleutian Island chain off the coast of Alaska. Alaska and Hawaii didn't become US states until 1959, but they were US possessions. Also, beginning in 1939, German u-boats were prowling the Gulf of St. Lawrence on the east coast of Canada, sinking British and Canadian supply ships.

World War II was fought on 4 continents: Europe, Asia, Africa and North America. Most people forget or are unaware that 1) Japanese forces occupied two islands in the Aleutian Island chain off the coast of Alaska and 2) German u-boats prowled the St. Lawrence, sinking British and Canadian supply ships.

Mostly in Europe, Asia and Africa. The Japanese bombed a few cities in northern Australia. The Japanese also launched "balloon bombs" from Japan, a few of which floated all the way across the Pacific and landed in the northwest US. The only people harmed by these were a family killed on a picnic in Oregon. A Japanese submarine surfaced and used its deck gun to fire a few shells at an oil refinery in California. The Japanese invaded two islands in the Aleutian Islands of Alaska, and there was a battle to retake one when the US invaded to drive them out. The Japanese evacuated the other one. German submarines sank numerous ships within sight of the east coast of the US. In South America there was a little naval action off the coast. The German "pocket battleship" Graf Spee had been raiding merchant shipping when three British ships caught up with her, damaged her, and caused her to seek shelter in neutral Uruguay. The Uruguayan government, in accordance with international laws governing this situation, made the German ship depart Montevideo Harbor after 48 hours. The German captain went out with only a skeleton crew, and blew up and scuttled his own ship when clear of the Harbor, rather than face the British ships waiting outside in international waters.
