Florence was the birth place of the Renaissance. Venice was a very powerful city state at the time and contributed to the Renaissance. Pisa was the home to da Vinci and Rome had Michangelo's Sistine chapel along with his workshop.
Nothing 'contributed' to anything, just that before the Renaissance nobody was much bothered about art, literature and that kind of thing. The correct question to ask would be 'what contributed to the art and learning in the Renaissance', but I'm not gonna answer that.

There were many of people that contributed to the Harlem Renaissance. Unfortunately I only know a few, WEB Debois, Langston Hughes, Joe Louis, and Billie Holiday.
There are a number of factors that contributed to the renaissance. Most of them were economic, political, social and ideological issues. Artists like Michelangelo and Da Vinci inspired the term renaissance.Ê

Basically...the Italian Renaissance shifted to the Northern Renaissance. The French invasion in 1494 and the invasions following that contributed to the shift. Trade routes shifted as well. The reformation and roman inquisition probably contributed also.
