Hammurabi made significant progress in codifying the laws of his empire. He ruled Babylonia beginning in 1792 BC BCE. His code of laws while imperfect, was a basis for rules of judgement. Not all peoples were treated equally under his code but it was a start considering the time and age he was apart of. His code can be said to be his most lasting legacy.
