Wiley Post made many and varied contributions to aviation. He made extensive long range flights in aircraft he had modified. ( among other things he first used Lockheed's Vega 5 and many of his ideas were later copied by Amelia Earhart) He set many distance records, even a solo circumnavigation of the world, 4 years before Earhart's ill-fated attempt. -He created world altitude records and did much initial work on pressure suits and high-altitude flying in general. -He never seemed to be a publicity seeker, but was a true pioneer of aviation.
