If the 1999 is like my 2001 Malibu. the transmission is a sealed system (no dipstick to check fluid level) and you need to take it to a mechanic (dealer if you have extended warranty). This answer, How_can_you_add_transmisson_fluid_to_1999, might help you to DIY your transmission.
A 2001 Dodge Durango uses ATF+4 transmission fluid.
Owner's manual will tell you. Dextron III if I remember right.
13 quarts total, for all 99-04 models
transmission has worn/bad seals.should have a trans shop check it. Most don't charge to check.
The 2001 Chevrolet Malibu has a 4-speed automatic.
"Honda Genuine" transmission fluid is the correct fluid type. Specifically use this type or it will cause damage.
To check the manual transmission fluid in a 2001 Tracker, first ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is off. Locate the transmission fill plug, which is typically on the side of the transmission case. Remove the plug and check if the fluid level is up to the bottom of the hole; if fluid drips out, it’s at the correct level. If not, you may need to add the appropriate type of transmission fluid until it reaches the correct level.
it doesnt have a dipstick. the malibu's have a sealed transmission that shouldn't need service for up to 100,000 miles. there is a trans fluid cap under the throttle body and exhaust.
there is RED CAP on the fill hole it will say TRANS FLUID there is a bolt on passenger side you will remove then check while running to see if fluid runs out. pain to do ..
