Virtually all Over-The-Counter cough medicine contains dextromethorphan hydrobromide (HBr). The Delsym brand contains dextromethorphan polystyrex, which is a more gradual release form.
Check the ACTIVE INGREDIENTS list on the box. Some contain acetaminophen (Tylenol), guaifenesin(sp?) (Mucinex), and/or phenylephrine hydrochloride as well as dextromethorphan. However it shouldn't be hard to find cough medicine only containing dextromethorphan HBr as an active ingredient.
The most common form I see is as a thin (liquidy) syrup, thick syrup, melt tabs (off-brand at Walmart), and as caplets (Robitussin only).
Typically it's 15mg per 5ml, or 354mg per standard 4oz (118ml) bottle.
Most don't, but it does contain the dissociative dextromethorphan (more commonly referred to as DXM)
You can give your dog certain over the counter cough medications for humans that contain dextromethorphan. This does include Triaminic cough medication.
Although some cough syurps do contain CODIENE, nightquil does not, it includes DXM or Dextromethorphan which is a hypnotic drug. Codiene cough syurps can be prescribed but in the U.S. are not sold otc. Happy Hunting __Storm__

If the cough syrup with codeine does not contain Dextromethorphan, yes.
That should not be a problem as long as it does not contain dextromethorphan, which doesn't play nicely with downers.
No, NyQuil does not contain codeine. NyQuil is used as a cough suppressant and antihistamine and its active ingredients include Dextromethorphan and Doxylamine succinate and Acetaminophen. Codeine is an opioid pain medication.
Dextromethorphan is a cough suppressant. That's the benefit. If you're talking about overdosing on it on purpose, you're harming your body and brain by overdosing.
There are no known drug interactions between guaifenisin, dextromethorphan, and the birth control pill.
