Uneven torque specs on the flexplate bolting to the crank, same with TC, When does it break? Right when you start it? RPM's?
I know its not a flywheel but I just replaced the rear main seal on my automatic 1990 240 DL and I did not index the flexplate, everything runs just fine after the work was done.Hope it helps.
The belt tensioner probably needs to be replaced - about $110 @ PepBoys. Check the alignment of all pulleys. If something isn't aligned properly the belt will keep breaking.
He is not being replaced. He is going to be in Breaking Dawn.
Yes
You might have a bad flywheel.
Most likely
28", I just replaced mine
At the minimum the head will need replaced.
One possibility for a flywheel (called a flexplate on an automatic transmission equipped vehicle) to break or continue to break, assuming it was previously in good condition, would be misalignment of the transmission in relation to the engine block surface. this causes stress on the center portion of the plate close to the mounting surface of the bolt holes. As the crankshaft of the engine turns it usually creates a fracture in the center portion of the flexplate and can shear completely off in cases, leaving the center "cookie" where the bolts are secured still attached to the engine, and the outer portion of the flexplate attached to the torque converter of the transmission. This causes a total loss of engine power to the transmission, and therefore no movement. If the flexplate is just fractured and not broken all the way through, it can still work, but may create noisy operation, starter problems and even engine timing issues for some vehicles with an engine speed sensor that uses the flexplate for a pickup. This may be caused by improper installation of the transmission after replacement, or hardware that was incorrectly torqued and has worked its way loose or has been left out upon re-installation. Sometimes a mechanic will neglect to replace alignment dowels that assure proper engagement of the transmission mounting surface to the engine block. If the transmission has recently been removed or replaced in this vehicle, and the flexplate was not damaged before, improper installation would be the most likely culprit of this part failing.
