It could be a number of issues, the type of pain described more often than not, is related to some ytype of kidney infection, or potential kidney stones. Or in a more severe case could be symptoms of diverticulitis
There are many possible causes. Cyst, benign tumor... There are lymph nodes in the area and you should have a doctor examine the lump.
