It is difficult to form an alloy of gold and iron because they have very different density, so they just tend to settle out in layers, rather than mixing together. This problem can be overcome in an environment of free fall, such as the International Space Station. An alloy of gold and aluminum has been made in space, and it is a fascinating alloy with a metallic green color. To my knowledge, gold and iron have not been made into an alloy. Perhaps some entirely novel form of stainless steel might be created, but at enormous expense.
