yes to a certain extent
Human DNA can be damaged through a variety of reasons. At one time there was a story that LSD would alter your DNA.
I don't believe we have the technology to actually modify DNA for any beneficial reason.
I. New DNA segments can be inserted.
II. New DNA segments can be substituted.
III. DNA segments can be deleted.
The answer depends on the alteration. Take corn for an example. A lot of corn has been genetically altered so that it is resistant to disease and is more hearty.
then the person or animal will become another type of organism or species!!!
a mutation
a transgenic organism is an organism that has had its genetic code (DNA) altered by the inclusion of one or more genes from another species of organism A transgenic organism is an organism which has been modified with genetic material from another species. The genetic modification is accomplished by inserting DNA into an embryo with the assistance of a virus, a plasmid, or a gene gun. The embryo is allowed to develop, and the mature organism will express the DNA which has been inserted into its genome. Transgenic organisms can also pass the modification on to future generations by breeding with other members of the same species. Genetically altered organisms are used in biological and medical research, production of pharmaceutical drugs, experimental medicine (e.g. gene therapy), and agriculture (e.g. golden rice).
Type of living tissue or organism that has had its DNA changed in or from the use of reproduction, scientific experiments, or natural order, making this specific life structure, "genetically altered." Deals with the change of cells, or other tangible micro-unit in the living object at hand.
Each organism has a specific sequence of DNA, this is what makes up the organism itself appearance and functions. If a sequence in the DNA has changed, so has an aspect of the organism. If there are enough changes over time that a scientist has monitored, then a new or modified species has formed.
A transgentic organism is an organism that contains functional recombinant DNA from a different organism and it contains foreign DNA.
When an organism's DNA is permanently altered, we say that it
A genetically altered organism is a living thing that, through various laboratory techniques, has had its DNA/RNA changed in some way.

A non-GMO is an organism that has not been altered in a lab with a gene from an unrelated organism, such as corn that has been altered with a gene from a bacteria.
A viral vampyre is an infected human. The DNA in the human has been altered yet the organism remains human in a sense that the number of chromosomes has not been changed. There is also a theory that a person might be genetically predisposed to develop vampyrism, not all infected people can be really turned.
