Badly. Its prey would overpopulate, depleting their own resources, until they would actually threaten the existence of their own species as well as any other animals that might feed on similar things. as a result the animals could either turn to feeding on man-made crops or slowly destroy an entire habitat destroying its vegetation. if this were to happen in lower world countries locals could even go hungry due to a general lack in resources.

If you are a predator to the animal that went extinct your food supply just died which means you will have to find a new, regular food supply. This is not always easy to do in a restricted environment. If a predator somehow becomes extinct then its prey will over populate which can cause problems for whatever it eats. It is like a train and when one car derails the rest of the train cars follow it into one big wreck.

Ecosystems depend on many different food chains. If one animal completely disappears, how will the next animal get food, and the next animal...? Eventually the animals that feed on that one extinct animal will die. The ecosystem will wither and be very weak.

well say your food chain is a tree then dead leaves then a worm then a bird then a fox. If the tree dies it won't grow any leaves so there won't be any dead leaves so the worm won't have anything to eat so the worm will die. Then the bird won't have anything to eat so it will die then the fox won't have anything to eat so it will die. It can get a bit more complicated but thats a basic explanation
