The New Testament teaches us to offer spiritualsacrifices to God through Christ, in the form of service to others, time, sharing of our means, praise, and worship (among other things). Romans 12:1 - I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. Hebrews 13:5, 6 - Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name. But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased. 1 Peter 2:5 - you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
It was only through a perfect sacrifice that our sins could be atoned for. Right through the Old Testament, the sacrifice was always required to be an unblemished lamb, calf or goat. Jesus was/is the ultimate sacrifice.
Christians believe that the laws regarding animal sacrifice were abolished by the sacrifice of Jesus.
Sacrifice
Because in the Old Testament, a lamb was a sacrifice for sin. Now, Jesus is a sacrifice for our sin.
Jesus came into the world as a sinless Man so that He could die for the sins of mankind. God required that the sacrifice for sins be spotless and without blemish, just as he required the lambs in the Old Testament to be spotless and without blemish when they were sacrificed. The sacrifice had to be pure and Jesus Christ fit that bill to a T.
The last words Jesus about his future sacrifice is found in John 19:28-30. Jesus last words were " It is Finished!"
jesus wasn't crucified because he was the son of God, but rather he was sacrificed so that humanity's sins could be atoned for. In order to send a perfect sacrifice for all of humanity, God had to come to earth "himself," via his son, Jesus. So the answer to your question is, yes, in a sense, but the real reason for Jesus' sacrifice is because of God's love for humanity. It was the only way to save us.
There is no sacrifice of the mass in Protestant faith, for Jesus was sacrificed once for us on Calvary, so no other sacrifice is needed. You shall have to ask our Roman Catholic brethren on this question.
Yes they do!
Jesus sacrificed his life to save the sinner
