Missiles with nuclear warheads have never been used in war. The only nuclear weapons ever used in war were the 2 used to end WW2 in Japan. These were gravity bombs.
There was no bombing of nuclear missiles in Cuba. The US got them removed by just blockading (oops sorry I meant quarantining, a blockade would have been an act of war) Cuba until the USSR removed the missiles.
There were no reports of a nuclear explosion in Germany between 1990-1992. Germany does not have a history of nuclear weapons testing and there have been no instances of nuclear explosions in the country during that time period.
Yes. The smaller pyramids, due to ingenious Egyptian technology, have been turned into large nuclear anti-air missiles.
At the peak the US had 1052 ICBMs (1000 Minuteman & 52 Titan) plus SLBMs, IRBMs, SRBMs, and Cruise Missiles in various lesser quantities. The Minutemans have always been the largest quantity of one type and now even some of them have been retired to meet START limits. Counting all types of missiles capable of carrying a nuclear warhead the US might still have somewhere under 2500, but the exact number is probably classified and most nuclear capable Cruise Missiles and SRBMs are normally armed with just conventional warheads (so they wouldn't count).
no
Actually no nuclear weapons were discovered in Cuba by the US in 1962, only ongoing construction work on missile launch facilities and some strategic missiles (without warheads). The concern was to prevent the USSR from transporting the warheads and the rest of the missiles. The thing that was not discovered was that there were low yield tactical nuclear weapons already on Cuba that would have been used to repel any invasion. When the USSR agreed to remove the strategic missiles they also secretly removed these tactical nuclear weapons that the US had never been aware of.
The exact number is highly classified. It would be classified as Top Secret information. Both sides kept such things secret, while making it obvious to the other that the number is substantial. The nuclear arms reduction treaties such as START do not restrict the number of weapons, only the number of vehicles (missiles, bombers) that can deliver them to their target. Many older nuclear weapons and missiles have been removed from service under various treaties.
the call of duty: Black ops map - "Nuke Town" is a Nuclear testing site for Weaponary of a Nuclear basis. In gameplay, you don't see a nuke but Nuke Town is a testing ground for nuclear weaponary and machinery, meaning a nuke has probably been tested there before...
There have not been any attacks using atomic bombs or missiles since World War II (as of today, May 4th, 2011). There have however, been many nuclear weapons tests - where controlled explosions have been conducted. Most of these have occurred underground to reduce nuclear fallout.
At the time of the crisis none of the missiles with nuclear warheads that could reach US territory had yet been installed, so Cuba could not have attacked with them. However unknown to the US there were active short range missiles with nuclear warheads already installed, had Kennedy ordered the invasion of Cuba suggested by his generals Cuba would have defended itself by attacking the troops as they landed on Cuba's beaches with these short range missiles with nuclear warheads. The US was not prepared for this and the only likely response would have been an all out bombing of both Cuba and the USSR with strategic nuclear bombers, which would have triggered a retaliation by the USSR with their strategic nuclear bombers. It would have been total nuclear war between the US and USSR.
The Cuban Missile Crisis was a conflict primarily between the United States and the Soviet Union. This crisis was brought on after the Soviets placed nuclear missiles in Cuba, which is very close to the United States. This is considered a crisis because the missiles placed in Cuba were dangerous since they could have easily been launched at the United States, hence starting the world's first nuclear war.
