Semour Cray is generally acknowledged as the father of the "super computer". The Cray computers were seen as the most powerful computers of the 1970s and the few that were made sold at breathtaking prices. The Cray 1 with serial number 001 sold for more than eight million dollars.
The first Cray ran at a speed of eighty megaflops per second (million floating point calculations per second). This amazing speed has now been surpassed by all modern latops and by a considerable margin. The fastest of today's supercomputers is reported to run at more than 8000 terraflops (each terraflop equal to one million megaflops). The difference in speed is a reflection of the way electronics technology has advanced rather than a suggestion that the Cray wasn't outstanding. The Cray computers were marvels of electronic engineering and remain icons of the computer industry.
Tianhe-2, the fastest supercomputer in the world, was built by about 1300 scientists and engineers from the National University of Defence Technology in China, along with Inspur, a Chinese IT firm.
The fastest computers are Super computers which are owned by many scientific organizations and cost much
New super computers are being created every day, IBM has created several, like their Watson computer that beat the jeopardy champions.
Currently, China has the fastest computer
