"South Ireland" or "Southern Ireland" is an incorrect term often use to refer to the Republic of Ireland, which in itself, according to the Irish constitution is Éire or Ireland. You will see Éire written on Irish coins and stamps.

"South Ireland" or "Southern Ireland" are not official names and not even geographically correct. They are just used to differentiate from Northern Ireland. Northern Ireland is mainly in the northeast of the island of Ireland, and the northernmost point on the island of Ireland is actually in the Republic of Ireland. See the map at the link below.
