A hill must be over 305 meters (or 1000 feet) to be considered a mountain, according to Dr. Scott J. Badham, Dept of Geology and Geophysics at the University of Wyoming. (http://www.newton.dep.anl.gov/askasci/env99/env261.htm) . The highest point in Indiana is Hoosier Hill at 381 m or 1,250 ft. in Wayne County; Sand Hill is #2 at 1,076 feet (327.96 m) in Noble County; Weed Patch Hill in Brown County is #3 at 1,056 feet (321.87 m); the rest of the list includes: 4. Mill hill county definately
There are no mountains in the state of Indiana. The highest natural point in Indiana, according to Wikipedia, is Hoosier Hill in Wayne County, at 1,257 feet (383 m) above sea level. Since the average elevation of the region is 1100 +/-100 feet above sea level, the topographic relief is gentle where the "hill" is no more than 30 feet higher than the surrounding landscape of gently rolling farmland. In Brown County State Park, in south central Indiana, the elevations of hilltops are lower than Hoosier Hill (ranging from 800-1050 feet), but due to the more rugged topography of the area, the distance from valley to hilltops is 400-500 feet, giving more definition to hills.
