It has being said many times before, that you dont become a hacker by passing a certain test, or taking this course or that course (though some courses help get you on your way). Alot of hackers aren't actually qualified/certified as hackers, though you will find alot of the serious ones (not the ones who are just going through a phase) actually work in the IT industry and will usually have some qualifications (just not hacker certs). As I already said, some courses will help. Perhaps take a look at these: (arranged in order of how they should be taken) A+This course pretty much certifies you as a computer technicinan. If you really plan on being a hacker, your going to have to learn whats inside the computer and how it all works. N+ This will give you a good footing in networks and networking. Almost every hack pulled off will involve a network to some degree. The only time it wont involve networking at any level is if you have physical access to the computer - and if you do get physical access its game over for the 'victim'. Certified Ethical Hacker As the name suggests, you will walk away from this a certified hacker. But dont be fooled. With a few months of study anybody could pass this test. Really, (in my own opinion) - this course simply gives an intro to a few tools and techniques. Your definitley not going to walk away from this course and hack your local bank. But it does give you a very good step into the hacking scene. Usually the next course/step will be more of a personal choice. You will have to figure out what exactly it is you want to specialise in. At the moment you probably haven't a clue, but once you get those 3 courses you will be in a far better position to know what to do next. I see alot of very keen enthusastic people, who loose interest because they weren't able to find a niche to settle in. For example: Some people will want to specialise in websites, if this is the case you will probably be looking to learn HTML, CSS, PHP etc... Some people enjoy network security, if this is the case you will have to learn alot more than you learned on the N+, perhaps a Cisco course would be in order. And now with wireless & bluetooth networks there is an even wider scope for you to work with. Some people have keen interests in cryptography/steganography and will want to specialise in that. I dont know anybody whos actually gone into this area, but I have heard good reports about it. Other people, after getting into the hacking scene will shift to forensics, or data recovery. Though from my own experience I have noticed its almost always forensics. Usually this means you get called in after a network/website/computer gets hacked, and its your job to figure out who done it.
Most hackers dont have qualifications. Most hackers are self taught. Though you can apply for hacking courses which will teach you how to hack such as the Certified Ethical Hacker course (CEH) though I find most of these people havn't a clue sometimes.
One would need to be knowledgeable in the computer field to become a hacker. One would need software and above average computer knowledge. One cannot just simply do some research and think they can become a hacker, it takes time and patience and a great deal of knowledge.
