NO! Metal is a better conductor than plastic. The metal would stay warmer for a longer amount of time. The plastic would cool off faster

Is the radiator on a 94 Chevy lumina plastic or metal plastic or metal?

cars don't have plastic radiators, if they do the plastic would probably melt, and the compound of metal cools and heats quickly which is useful in cooling water.

Will water freeze faster in a plastic cup or a metal cup?

Water in a metal cup will freeze faster because metal conducts coldness and energy the most. trust me, I did a project with a metal, plastic, glass, and paper to see which cup would freeze the quickest. Hopefully this answer helped.

In general, foam is a better insulator than metal, and so foam would be expected to keep water hotter longer under most normal circumstances.

Why would hot water in a metal mug cool down more quickly than hot water in a plastic mug?

It depends on how good a conductor the material is. Metal is a better warmth conductor then some plastics.

Would plastic melt if touched to a live wire?

No, Plastic is not conductive! I other words plastic can not conduct electricity therefore it can not produce resistance, and resistance is what you need to produce heat. and that heat would melt the plastic. Now if you touch a "live" wire to metal and that metal was grounded ( for example to a cold water pipe) then you would be completing the circuit, then that piece of metal would heat up very rapidly and eventually melt! of-course the smart person would not do this but if you where not so smart be prepared to get burned!!!! BE SMART!!
