Cholesterol usually happens when you eat junk food or gain weight. I think that the only damage would be gaining weight to the body. Of course, I don't know if that's true, but it would be my greatest guess. I suggest eating more healthy and watch your cholesterol and your vitamins. Make sure you drink a lot of water and healthy drinks, and do not drink gaterade because it is known to be not healthy at all. It seems healthy but really isn't.
You can get your cholesterol to zero, but you would have to die first. Cholesterol is not "evil", it is a critical component of your body, present in cell membranes, and as precursors for hormones. If your dietary intake of cholesterol is too low, then your body will synthesize it, so you can never get it to zero (nor would you want to).

Exogenous is cholesterol from outside the body (from foods). whereas endogenous is cholesterol that is made in the body.
Dietary cholesterol can be absorbed by the body and utilized. The body's cholesterol production though is much higher than the general intake. If the absorbed amount of cholesterol increases, then the body's production decreases. Another "defense" which the body can use to avoid too much cholesterol in the system is to simply decrease the absorption of cholesterol.

Cholesterol is in everyone's body, and it needs to be; cholesterol is the basis of all other hormones. However, modern diets and relative inactivity can lead to a buildup of excess cholesterol which is harmful. Consumption of saturated fats is a major source of excess cholesterol.
