no it's not a dance style
Modern Dance is a style of dance. At my studio it always looks kinda weird. It orginated in the 1900s when Ballerinas started rebelling against the rigid form of Ballet. Its a lot of self expression.

Flamenco is a dance performed to specific flamenco music which comes from the Andalusia region of Spain. It's not easy to describe how to perform flamenco in writing - most people who try to imitate the style will stamp their feet, but they stamp them in totally the wrong way. Flamenco dancers do stamp with flat feet occasionally, but they also use the toe and heel in multiple combinations. To dance flamenco, you need to hold a very upright posture. Arms are similar to ballet but with the elbows higher and further back.

Break Dancers
Modern dance is diversed from Classical Ballet where the dancers/choreographers try to break the rules and strict of Classical...i.e., in Classical the dancers tend to dance on turn out most of the time and seems to concentrate to work on their legs , whereas in Modern is dance in turn-in feet and use the spines and focus on relaxation of upper body. Contemporary is the dance style that combined or influenced by other dance style but still based on relaxation and freedom of movement rather than rigid as in classical ballet.
Lyrical dance is a combination of jazz, rock, ballet and modern dance to produce a unique dance style. Lyrical dancing encourages the dancers and choreographers to interpret the music and emotion through motion.
I am assuming that what you are referring to as modern dance is modern jazz dance. This style of dance came from ballet.

It depends on what style of dance. They are both very talented dancers, but they both have their own strengths and weaknesses.
No, it is not a modern dance. Modern is a new style of ballet or lyrical but with less technique and more style. It is usually slower than hip hop dances and is not as 'hard core'.
This is a style of dance that dates to the Renaissance, perhaps earlier. It has little to do with intimacy and more to do with maintaining the distance and positions of the dancers.
