Most chemicals should not be heated in temperatures generated by a stove or microwave. Chemicals can also leave residual odors and traces of the product. These odors can permeate foods later cooked in the microwave.

For general cleaning, fill a microwave safe container with an inch of water. Heat for a few ~seconds~ (not minutes). Carefully remove the container and with a damp clean rag, wipe the sides of the microwave. The warm water usually loosens any stains or foods. Remember to carefully remove the turn glass once it is cool and wipe it also with a clean wet cloth and dry it with a clean, lint-free cloth. Wipe the bottom of the microwave, where the turn glass sits. Some people add a dab of baking soda on a corner of a wet cloth...then rinse that off with another wet cloth. Dry the inside thoroughly. Baking soda is safe to clean microwaves and refrigerators, wipes away cleanly and completely, and leaves no chemical odors behind to contaminate foods or liquids.

The human body is 100% chemicals. The food we eat is 100% chemicals. What we drink, be it water or Scotch whisky, is 100% chemicals. The drugs we take, illegal or prescribed, are 100% chemicals. The air we breathe is 100% chemicals. The Earth we live on is 100% chemicals. The TV you watch is 100% chemicals. The sofa you sit on is 100% chemicals.
