Michael was with the Jackson 5 up until the brothers (minus Jermaine who stayed with Berry Gordy and married his daughter) left Motown in 1976. Because Motown owned the name "The Jackson 5" the name was changed to The Jacksons, and Randy stepped up in Jermaines place. The Jacksons stayed together until 1990. Although MJ had gone his own way in 1979 with his "Off The Wall" album, he still recorded and toured with the brothers, including Jermaine.
