According to the history books, it was the North Pole in 1909, with the South Pole following 2 years later. But, seeing the considerable doubt that has been uncovered about Peary's claim to the North Pole, there may have to be a revision.

It was discovered in1789 by an explorer going to the north pole his name was Herber Shirley
The distance is zero. The north pole is one end of the International Dateline. The south pole is the other end.
The north and south celestial poles are two imaginary points and therefore cannot be "discovered".
Robert E. Peary was credited with finding the North Pole first in 1909, but in 1908 the New York Herald came out with a headline "The North Pole is Discovered by Fredrick A. Cook." So Cook found the North Pole a whole year before Peary.
No one that we know of. There were famous first expeditions to the North Pole OR the South Pole, and famous first trips around the world. But no-one ever had the idea that anything of interest could be discovered by travelling from the North Pole to the South Pole
