There is distribution of days that occur between Xmas tree set up and Xmas tree removal. There is little tradition around a correct or auspicious day for these events. Commercial sites (sttores) put tree up as early as Ocober as the Hallowe'en stuff goes off display. In homes many folks put the tree up as soon as it turns December. Increasing numbers are erected as the month passes. Some families make the tree decoration activities the center event of a night before Xmas event.
In some homes the tree comes down after Boxing Day (December 26.) New Years is a popular date although most folks are too busy partying. Epiphany (January 6) is popular as well. The presence of the occasional tree in the trash in later months (after Burns Night, Groundhog Day, Easter and the Summer Solstice) is not unknown. Newspaper sometimes report on local "characters" who put a tree up in the distant past and never took it down.
