Aries found Luke and Luke made Aries an offer. Help his plan to create a war of the Gods. Aries being the war god loved this plan and accepted. He gave Percy, Annabeth, and Grover an empty backpack and when they entered the underworld it got heavier and heavier as they got closer to Hades and when Hades searched his bag, the lightening bolt was there. Percy couldn't help but think Aries was being influenced by someone (Luke) and after Aries and Percy's fight on the beach, Percy headed to Olympus, delivered the bolt, and returned to camphalfblood. At the end of the book Luke secretly confessed to Percy his plan and nearly killed him and escaped from camp.
