Auschwitz.
Edith Hollander, more commonly known as Edith Frank, mother of Anne Frank, was actually a forward thinker. A flapper in the twenties, Edith wanted to raise her girls as equals, encouraging independence and self-sufficiency. Edith was extremely devoted to her family, always wanting the best for them. When planning to go into hiding she was very protective of her family, reluctant to bring anyone in with them, while her husband was more open to sharing their space. While in hiding Edith was determined to remain respectful of the others with them. After being captured and imprisoned Edith lived only for her family. When she was separated from them, she eventually lost her mind and starved herself delusionally believing she could use her food to feed her family.
