Annuals complete their life cycle in one year. In other words, they bloom for only one growing season. Although their lives are short-lived, annuals tend to produce bright, showy blooms from spring to the first frost.

annual plants are those plants that sprout from seed, grow, bear seeds (fruit), and then die having completed its life cycle. Some plants are called bi-annual because the life cycle is spread over two growing seasons. Plants that don't die but continue to grow and a number of years are called perennial.

An example of this is when you by grass seed, Some grass is annual grass which dies at the end of the summer but grows quickly and there is perennial grass takes longer to start growing but stays from year to year.

An annual plant is a plant that only lives for one year. This means that the plant's entire life cycle, from seed to maturity to reproduction, occurs within one calendar year.
