People react differently to anti depressants. Most will either cause weight loss or weight gain. Using anti depressants for weight loss is not advisable, due to all of the other effects associated with their use.
Learn to exercise and eat right or you will gain it all back once you get off the pills!
The medicine Prozac can help with depression. There also have been studies involving the people taking this medicine. Around 17 percent of them have lost weight.
This should not be the first nor only factor when looking for a medicine to help with your problems. Focus on medicines that will make you feel better, less depressed. Once you start to feel better the weight will go down because you are not stressing yourself as much.
Everyone is different. Although there is a lot of hype out there about weight gain on all sorts of drugs, clinical studies reveal that most SSRI's are equivalent to placebo in their effect on weight. That said, some people do gain weight either as a direct side effect from an antidepressant or indirectly, as in those who are eating more as their depression lessens.
While I could say that, essentially, any anti-depressant pill is capable of helping with weight loss if you find one that works in such a way with your body, I'll skip to the "generic" answer.
Wellbutrin. Many people take this as an adjunct to their current anti-depressant medication (i.e., zoloft, paxil, etc.) to enhance the effectiveness of the current medication and/or to counter some of the potential (e.g. loss of libido) side effects.
While there are definitely some newer anti-depressants (such as Pristique) that show favorable results in its side effect profile, none are marketed as pills used for depression and weight loss.
I wish I could answer your question more thoroughly, but I guess I would have to know the situation. As always, talk to your doctor. You can also consult a pharmacist to get information. Your doctor should be able to tell you of his/her personal experiences with patients side effects and reactions to certain drugs regarding weight/loss.
Anyway, not sure if this helped, but I know there are options out there to address this concern-- you're among many who are asking. :)
Take care,

I think wellbutrin helps people lose weight. It also makes it difficult to sleep. It's a little like amphetamines.
Usually it you put on weight as you sleep a lot.

No. Remeron is an anti-depressant and it is not a controlled substance. However it may be used for insomnia, but I wouldn't advise that due to its massive weight gain. Better use benzos.
Depressant
Well that depends on a lot of things, like how much weight you put on, where the weight is, and what you are willing to do to work it off. Are you off of the anti-depressant due to excessive weight gain? Taking the supplement 5-HTP helps to naturally increase the body's level of serotonin (if your medication had anything to do with serotonin) and helps to control the appetite. Dieting and excercise will help to jump start your weight loss, start eating right and do some aerobics! It's hard to just hear "anti-depressant" with no amount of weight gain and be able to answer your question.
it's an anti-depressant
No, Suboxone does not work as an anti-depressant.
Prozac is an anti- depressant.
No. It's an anti-depressant.
Effexor
Tramadol is a synthetic opiate, albeit a minor one. Wellbutrin isn't - it's an anti-depressant.
