If by resolution, you mean the closest pair of stars that can be seen in a telescope, it is purely a function of the size of the mirror/lens.
You can calculate it as 134÷D where D is the diameter expressed in mm or 4.5÷D where the diameter is expressed in inches.
So for my 12 inch Meade Telescope the resolution is 4.5÷12=0.375 seconds
The resolution of a ground-based telescope is determined by the diameter of the lens. The quality of the lens is also a factor, as are atmospheric conditions.

A reflecting telescope uses mirrors while refracting telescopes uses lens. The refracting telescope also had chromatic aberration and bad resolution while the reflecting telescope had none of these.
