it determines the resolution of the picture. the higher the pixels, the clearer the picture.
Resolution. It determines the clarity and detail of the image on the screen. It is often represented by two numbers, such as 1920x1080, where the first number refers to the horizontal pixels and the second number refers to the vertical pixels.
Every screen will be different. You can approximate for your particular computer by dividing the height of the screen in pixels (the second number in your display resolution) by the height of the screen in centimeters. The number you get will be "pixels per cm" for your screen.
resolution
To calculate the total number of pixels on a mobile device screen, you multiply the screen's width in pixels by its height in pixels. For example, if a screen has a resolution of 1080 pixels in width and 1920 pixels in height, the total pixel count would be 1080 x 1920 = 2,073,600 pixels. This total represents the number of individual points of color that make up the display. Additionally, pixel density, measured in pixels per inch (PPI), can be calculated using the diagonal resolution and screen size.

Percentages are used to compare one number to another. In this case, you first have to decide what you want to compare it to - for example, the screen width (in pixels), or the screen height (in pixels).
The pictures or graphics that you see on a computer screen are composed of just three colors: red, green, blue, or combinations of these three. The computer determines the appropriate color by the amount of light or color in conjunction with a numeric representation of the color. The technical name used to represent every color bit in a computer is a pixel or picture element. The pixel is a tiny square of color. Used in conjunction with millions of other pixels, it gives us an image that our eye can recognize. The number of pixels determines the quality of the cathode ray tube (CRT) on the screen. The higher the number of pixels, the better resolution you'll have. But mapping is the computer's technique to manipulate the pixels on your screen.
