He fought strongly to get the second bank of the US abolished.

He fought the doctrine of nullification espoused mostly by SC ,because he believed it would destroy the federal union if carred to its logical conclusion.

The tariff was the big impetus for SC's espousal of nullification. Jackson tried to find a compromise reduction of the tariff which would satisfy both sides, but he was not entirely successful.

He fought for requiring cash (specie) payments for buying federal lands and he worked successfully to balance the federal budget and pay back the national debt.
